Technology is improving day by day. The future has a lot in store for us to enjoy. A century ago, people used to travel through camels and horses. Now, we have cars, airplanes, trucks, and buses that make our journey easier, faster, and more reliable. In the future, we may have many other things that we cannot imagine for now. For example, we may have flying cars. They will save us from building roads and other infrastructures that currently help us while traveling through normal cars. Cars are now coming with special new features like fast and efficient operating systems and safety measures to ensure that all our rides are as smooth as possible.

Honda and Google

Honda is one of those automobile companies that is working to make things even better. The company has now announced a deal with Google in which it has been decided to include the Android Automotive operating system in the future Honda cars. The first Honda vehicle with Google OS will be launched in 2022 in the United States of America. This is certainly good news for all android users. Their rides will now be equipped with the operating system that they are already comfortable with.

The partnership between Honda and Google is not something new. They first came together in 2015. The first model that included Google technology was Honda Accord. It came with Android Auto in 2016. It was a great feature and many users still appreciate it.

Android Auto Vs Android Automotive OS

Honda Car

Both Android Auto and Android Automotive OS are very different technologies. Android Auto made it possible for people to connect their android smartphones with the vehicle's infotainment system. It was a way to project the user's smartphone onto the vehicle's internal system. This allowed the user to avoid using the mobile while driving. Android Automotive OS is very different in this regard. It is a full-fledged infotainment system. This operating system can handle all the functions and features of the vehicle. It will indeed be a great way to gain optimal control over the vehicle without any hassle.

Advantages of Android Automotive OS

Android Automotive OS will allow the user to get assistance from the voice-enabled Google Assistant. The user will be able to control the infotainment tasks, messaging, navigation, and music just by giving commands. Moreover, this operating system will make it possible for users to control many vehicle-specific functions like air conditioning. The users will be able to integrate the google apps and have a fun experience while driving.

Initially, car manufacturers hesitated in adopting such technology which can transfer consumer data to the third party from the infotainment system. However, with the rising interest in android smartphones and virtual assistants, it has now become hard to avoid such technology. Compared to other car manufacturers, Honda may have been a little late in joining hands with Google because of the same reason.

Other Car Manufacturers

There are two other cars that already have this technology embedded in them. The Volvo XC40 Recharge and Polestar 2 are electric vehicles that come with Android Automotive OS. Both these cars belong to Volvo Group. There are many other brands that are also working with Google to incorporate this technology in their cars, such as, Ford, Nissan, and General Motors.
