Grades Section in the Auction Sheet Report?

Japanese people sell their cars after only a few years to avoid Shaken Law. The used cars usually make it to the auction houses in Japan where people place bids to purchase them. Each car goes through a strict inspection procedure where each and eve corner of the car is explored. This helps in the creation of an auction sheet. Auction sheets contain all the information you can possibly want about the car. From general grades to specific details, everything is there.

The inspection is usually merciless. The inspector notices even a small and insignificant scratch and mentions it on the auction sheet. He may also leave his comments in the comment section. You may not be able to inspect the car in such detail. Hence, reading an auction sheet is much better than checking the car personally.

A person who is new to the Japanese auction system may not be able to fully understand the auction sheet. There are grades, codes, and numbers that can tell you about the quality of the car. People are often confused about the grading system. Don't worry, you will soon learn the mystery behind them. This blog contains all the information you need to learn how different grades are given.

Vehicle Grading System

The grade tells you about the overall condition of the vehicle. You can find it on the top right corner of the auction sheet. If you look at the auction sheet, you will find both alphabetic and numerical grades. You need to learn both of them to fully understand the auction sheet.

Numeric Grades

Numeric grades usually tell you about the overall condition of the vehicle. They are the quickest way to know what the vehicle is like. If the grade is too bad, don't bother going through other details. They range from 0 to 6.

Number

6

5

4

3

2

1

0

Meaning

Perfectly New

Almost New

Minor Paint Blemish

Rough Condition

Serious Panel Damage

Serious Mechanical Repairs

Accidental/ Repaired

The higher number means that the car is of good quality. Always avoid the cars that are given 0 to 2 ranks. They are not worth spending money. They come with seriously damaged panel, repaired transmission, rust and water damages. If you buy them, you will have to spend a lot of money to keep them going.

Alphabetic Grades

Alphabetic grades usually represent the quality of the interior of the car. They are very important and must not be ignored. All of them are given below with their meanings:

Alphabet

A

B

C

D

E

A/R

Meaning

Almost New

Neat and Clean

Average

Cigarette burns, Damaged, Ripped

Waste, Rubbish, Poor Condition

Accidental, Repaired

All these grades are necessary to fully comprehending the auction sheet. They tell you if the vehicle is worth checking out. They should be the first thing you notice on the sheet. The rest of the things can follow later.
